The Port Adelaide Cricket Club (PACC) vision for the Junior Program is a program that develops young cricketers to play Senior Cricket for PACC or a local Community Club, State Cricket for South Australia and Test Cricket for Australia.
The PACC Junior Cricket pathway is based on the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and Cricket Australia (CA) pathways.
The Port Adelaide Cricket Club provides players with opportunities to develop their cricket through:
Freeman / Rolton Academy
A training program for boys and girls aged 12 and under. The Academy program focuses on participation, basic fundamentals and enabling players to experience all parts of the game.
The Academy is the primary feeder program for the Under 12 Statewide Cup, Ray Sutton Shield and Under 14 sides.
The Statewide Cup carnival is for Under 12’s and is used to help identify players for the SAPSASA squad in the following season. The PACC Statewide Cup program focuses on participation, basic fundamentals, enabling players to experience all parts of the game and translating the training skills learned in The Freeman Rolton Academy program into matchday performance.
Ray Sutton Shield
The Ray Sutton Shield is for primary school aged cricketers and is played across seven Sundays early in the season. Ray Sutton Shield matches are generally played on A Grade ovals and gives junior players their first taste of the facilities available should they progress to the higher levels of Senior Grade Cricket.
The SACA Under 14 and Under 16 competitions are played on Saturday afternoons.
The PACC Under 14 Program builds on the basic fundamentals learnt in The Academy and starts to identify each players’ specialisation (batting, bowling or ‘keeping). The PACC Under 14 Program is structured to pour significant time and effort into developing players in their specialisation so that player development is accelerated and players matchday performance is improved.
The PACC Under 16 Program targets each players’ specialisation for further intense development – with the ultimate goal of every player being capable enough in their specialisation to command a place at Senior Grade level upon graduation.
Under 17s Shield
The Under 17s Shield carnival is held in January and is primarily used to identify players for the SACA Under 17 Squad. It's a great opportunity for players from the Eyre Peninsula to come over for a solid week of cricket at a high level.
